Did You Know That Most Shampoos Are Bad For Your Health?

We use shampoo just about everyday. You would think that this product would be tested for safety according to regulations. Unfortunately, it is not. Dandruff shampoos are the most dangerous of all hair-care products because they contain highly toxic medications to prevent the scalp from peeling.

One popular anti-dandruff agent is selenium sulfide, which, if swallowed, can cause vital organs to degenerate. Another common ingredient is resorcinol. Resorcinol is very easily absorbed through the skin and can lead to inflammation of the inner eyelids, skin irritation, dizziness, restlessness, rapid heartbeat, breathing difficulties, drowsiness, sweating, unconsciousness, and convulsions. In addition, dandruff shampoos may contain toxic cresol, carcinogenic polyvinylpyrrolidone plastic (PVP), formaldehyde, detergents, artificial colors, and fragrance.

Regular shampoos also have their risks. Formaldehyde is commonly used as a preservative and may be present in many shampoos, hidden under the name quaternium-15. In addition to being a potential human carcinogen, formaldehyde can be an irritant to skin, eyes, and respiratory passages, even at very low concentrations. Government regulatory agencies require some products containing this chemical to carry warning labels, but shampoo does not have to.

Instead of using shampoo of any kind, use plain baking soda to wash your hair. Take a handful of dry soda and rub it vigorously into your wet hair, using the tips of your fingers to massage it into your scalp. Rinse thoroughly and dry hair. Get rid of all the shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, or any other product that could be toxic to your hair.

Wash your hair at the same intervals that you normally do, but keep using baking soda and no chemicals on your hair whatsoever. The first time you do this your hair might look like straw, but just stick with it. After a few weeks, old dandruff scales will be gone, your scalp will begin to generate its natural oils, and your hair will feel very soft. Once you get to this point, you can use a natural shampoo alternately with the baking soda. You will find your own balance of products to keep your hair beautiful and dandruff-free.

To find a natural shampoo, go to a natural-food store. They have a wide selection of different kinds of shampoos for different types of hair. You can also find a number of natural shampoos available online. In addition, you can try any liquid soap for shampoo or rub bar soap into your hair. You will need to rinse thoroughly, and if it leaves a residue, try to rinse with diluted vinegar or lemon juice. Some soap also works well for dry or normal hair.

Would you like a solution that can be found in your refrigerator right now? Well back in the 1920s, beauticians used eggs for shampoo! Just beat an egg and apply half to your hair as if it was a shampoo. Rinse with lukewarm water, then repeat with the other half of the egg. Rinse with the juice of half a lemon mixed with two cups of water. All in all, there's really no excuse for using toxic products on your hair.
